EVENT TO AID CANCER PATIENT RAISES $27,000

A fund-raiser Saturday for Craig County school bus driver Dana Garman, who needs a $100,000 bone marrow transplant, brought in $27,000, Garman said, bringing the total raised to roughly $50,000.

"I've got a lot of people to reach out and touch," she said.

Garman, 33, discovered a large lump in her left breast while nursing the youngest of her three children. The lump turned out to be cancerous, and doctors recently discovered cancer in her liver. She now needs the most aggressive cancer treatment available - a bone marrow transplant - but her insurance doesn't cover it.

Donations to the Dana Garman Fund may be sent to Farmers and Merchants Bank of Craig County, Account No.37885, P.O. Box 399, New Castle 24127.
