HOKIE GOLFERS LEFT SCRAMBLING

The Virginia Tech golf team will be scrambling to stay alive today when they tee off in the second round of the men's NCAA Division I golf championship in McKinney, Texas.

The Hokies shot a disappointing 301 in Wednesday's opening round, putting them 28th out of 30 teams in the tournament, which is being played at the par-72 Stonebridge Country Club.

The field will be cut to the top 15 teams and top 68 individuals after today's round, which will be broadcast live from 3-5 p.m. on ESPN.

Freshman David Havens of Wytheville led Tech with a 73 and is tied for 49th place. Sophomores Sean Farrell and Matt Martin, and freshman Curtis Deal all fired 77.
