The Buccaneers, who were swept at home by the Blue Rocks in May, broke an eight-game Wilmington winning streak.
The score was tied 2-2 when Chance Sanford and Jason Kendall led off the sixth inning with base hits for the Buccaneers. Right fielder Jake Austin's chopper to short stop advanced the runners to second and third and Sanford scored on a wild pitch. Clyburn's two-out single later scored Kendall to give Salem a 4-2 lead.
Clyburn added a two-run single in the eighth to make it 6-2. The Blue Rocks retaliated with one run in the bottom of the eighth, but couldn't muster any more.
Kendall drove in two runs on two hits and had nine putouts for the Bucs. Center fielder Jeff Conger was 2-for-4 and Sanford was 2-for-5 with a double.
Wilmington pounded out nine hits, including a double and three triples.
John Ericks earned the victory for Salem. He pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits and striking out eight. Marc Pisciotta faced three batters in the ninth inning and picked up the save.
