YOUTHS ASSAULT 3 PEOPLE AT FAIR AT CIVIC CENTER

Two men and a teen-ager were assaulted by several youths at the John Drew Fair in the parking lot of the Roanoke Civic Center on Tuesday night, police said.

At around 10:30 p.m., Christopher Ray Martin, 16, of Goodview was found unconscious and beaten in the parking lot. Witnesses told police that Martin was punched in the face, knocked to the ground and kicked by a group of youths.

Two men later told police they also were attacked by a group of youths. Police did not release their names and said their injuries were not serious.

Police said Martin was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. A nursing supervisor said the hospital had no record of him.

Police said the attacks apparently were unprovoked.
