CARROLL NABS 1ST STATE BERTH

Kenny Ward threw a complete game and struck out six to improve to a school-record 10-0 as Carroll County beat Abingdon 4-3 on Thursday in the Region IV baseball tournament semifinals.

With the victory, Carroll County (17-4) earned its first state tournament berth in the 25-year history of the program. Bill Worrell, who has been the Cavaliers' head coach for all 25 years, won his 355th game.
