A grand jury on Wednesday also indicted another Floyd County man on charges he burned his trailer last January after unsuccessfully trying to solicit someone else to burn it.
The indictments for Ervin Leroy Richardson, 53, allege that Richardson attempted to kill Suki Milani on June 2, 1993; that he used a firearm to commit the offense; and that Richardson possessed a firearm after previously being convicted of a felony.
The incident happened in the Shooting Creek community near the Franklin County line, said Jerry Yopp of the Floyd County Sheriff's Office.
Richardson is accused of firing several shots from a shotgun at Milani after she tried to intercede when Richardson was arguing with and beating his mother, Louetta Richardson.
The shots were fired as Milani ran toward her house, authorities said.
In other indictments issued Wednesday, the grand jury accused Roger L. Barber Sr. of two counts of attempting to procure the burning of his home in the Buffalo Mountain community in December. The grand jury returned a third indictment alleging that on Jan. 12 Barber set the trailer on fire himself.
