Martin Brothers Contractors Inc. of Roanoke said it has been contracted to build a proposed 53,000-square-foot expansion of the Uttermost Co., a home accessories maker in Rocky Mount. The structure will be an American PreEngineered Metal Building, a fabricated product of American Buildings Co. The latter company recently began construction of a new fabricating plant in the Mecklenberg County Airport Industrial Park near South Hill.

Cooper Industries Inc., Houston parent of the Crouse-Hinds electrical products plant in Roanoke, has sold its Cameron Forged Products Co. unit to Wyman-Gordon Co., a Massachusetts maker of castings and composite products for the aerospace industry. Terms of the transaction were 16.5 million shares of Wyman-Gordon common stock plus $5 million.
