MOLESTATION CHARGES WILL GO TO GRAND JURY

The case against a former Bedford County school principal charged with sodomizing a 16-year-old boy will be sent to a grand jury next month.

The charges were held against Aaron Dixon, 36, after a preliminary hearing Thursday in the Bedford County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Dixon is accused of taking indecent liberties and having anal sex with a boy he counseled at Opportunity House, a Lynchburg home for troubled youths.

"He told me that if I would have told anyone, that they wouldn't have believed me," the teen-ager testified Thursday. But he was unable to remember the exact time and dates of many of the encounters.

Dixon maintains his innocence. According to testimony, the sexual allegations were lodged after Dixon took away privileges from the boy.

The boy was placed at the facility in November after he was convicted of the aggravated sexual battery of a 3-year-old in Amherst County.

The sexual encounters took place at least six times from November to January, the teen-ager testified. On at least three occasions, the boy accuses Dixon of sodomizing him at Huddleston Elementary School in Bedford County, where Dixon was principal.

Dixon resigned from that position in February after he was charged with sex crimes by Bedford County authorities.

In early February, Lynchburg police charged Dixon with molesting the teen-ager at Opportunity House. Dixon worked there as a part-time, paid counselor; his responsibilities included supervising and transporting the residents. He awaits a June 27 trial in the Lynchburg Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
