CASHING IN ON ELVIS

``Wanted: Authentic tickets to Elvis' August 1977 unfulfilled show in Memphis and also Portland, Maine.''

``Wanted: Photos of Elvis in his 1971 blue Stutz Blackhawk.''

``Wanted: Radio interview by Bob Costas with the comedian Bill Murray about Murray's visit to Graceland in 1977.''

``Wanted: Any Elvis memorabilia.''

Sure enough, Elvis lives - on black velvet, satin silk, McCormick decanters, and in the pages of the Graceland Express, where fans turn to buy and sell their memories of Elvis.

The quarterly publication, ``an official news publication of Graceland,'' also includes a calendar of Elvis inspired events - such as candlelight vigils at Graceland Mansion, bus trips to Elvis' birthplace in Tupelo, tours of Humes High School (from which the King graduated in 1953) and even visits to the Kang Rhee Karate School to meet the instructor who taught Elvis some of his moves. There is memorabilia of Elvis' career, too, and tip-offs of new books and products (sorry, no sightings).

Of particular interest in the 1994 first quarter newsletter is the note that Elvis was among the top stars mentioned in newspapers in 1993 - ranked seventh behind Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Ross Perot, Michael Jackson, Martin Luther King and Madonna.

To get a year of the Graceland Express - and the scoop on Elvis fan clubs, pen pals, and memorabilia (how 'bout Elvis' admittance slip for tonsillitis while stationed in Germany!) - send $12 to Graceland Express, P.O. Box 16508, Memphis, Tenn. 38186-0508.
