ROANOKE VALLEY ECONOMIC INDICATORS

The number of homes sold in the Roanoke Valley fell 17 percent in May from the same month a year earlier. The Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors said 401 houses were placed under sales contract last month, compared with 484 in May 1993. In April, 405 homes sold.

The median price of the homes sold in May was &89,950, unchanged from a year ago and up slightly from $89,5000 in April. The average house was on the market for 74 days.
