One night after the teams drew 7,313, Jason Kendall made it 1-0 in the first inning when his single drove in Dario Tena to quiet a crowd of 9,767. Tena had doubled to lead off the game.
In the second, the Bucs made it 5-0 on Tena's RBI single and a three-run homer by Chance Sanford.
Salem padded its lead to seven runs in the sixth inning on an RBI triple by Marcus Hanel and a run-scoring single by Alan Purdy.
Bucs starter Matt Chamberlain (2-7) was cruising until the eighth inning, when errors by Purdy and Jay Cranford led to an unearned run. Chamberlain went eight innings, giving up five hits and striking out five. The key to his success was no walks.
Frederick scored its final run in the ninth off reliever Rich Townsend.
Scott Emerson (2-3) took the loss for the Keys. Salem rocked him for 13 hits and all seven runs in six innings.
