Angela Leigh Wood and Jeffrey Alan Gordon were united in marriage at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 1994, in Bedford Baptist Church. The Reverend Ken Burger was the officiating clergyman. The reception was held in the Church Fellowship Hall.
Jennifer Moran, friend of the bride, was the maid of honor. The matron of honor was Cindi Orange, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Sharon Vincent, Michelle Hampton, and Stephanie Witt, friends of the bride. Dale Wood, cousin of the bride; and Whitney Hogan, cousin of the groom. Amanda Gordon, cousin of the groom, was the flowergirl.
Chic Gordon served as his son's best man. The ushers were Pat Orange, David Dagenhart and Charles Thomas, friends of the groom; Mike Wood, brother of the bride; Jon Gordon, brother of the groom; and Matt Hogan, cousin of the groom. Donovan Bush, cousin of the groom, was the ringbearer. The candlelighters were Becky Gordon, mother of the groom and Cecil Wood, father of the bride. The guestbook was attended by Deborah Smith.
The bride wore a Victorian style gown featuring a fitted lace bodice detailed with pearls and bows. She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses and daisies centered with a bridal orchid.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. Cecil G. Wood of Bedford, Va. and the late Mrs. Janet B. Wood. She is a graduate of Liberty High School and attends Central Va. Community College in Lynchburg. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence E. Gordon of Bedford, Va. He is a graduate of Liberty High School and attends Central Va. Community College in Lynchburg.
The newlyweds will reside in Bedford County following their wedding trip to the Cayman Islands.

Evangeline Leigh Thompson and Douglas Bryant Hales were married Saturday, May 21 at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg. The officiating minister was Rev. Ron Thompson, bride's father, of Roanoke, assisted by Dr. Jerry Falwell of Lynchburg. The matron of honor was Mrs. Melody Archer, bride's sister, of Limestone, Tenn. The bridesmaid was Mrs. Kim Nokleby, bride's sister, of Lexington Park, Md. The flower girls were Magan and Camilla Archer, bride's nieces. The ringbearer was Glen Nichols, bride's cousin. The best man was Mr. Tim Secrist, groom's cousin, of Raleigh, N.C. The ushers were Mr. Kent Archer, bride's brother-in-law, of Limestone, Tenn.; Mr. Jay Gamble, groom's friend of Lynchburg, Mr. David Hales and Mrs. Robert Hales, groom's cousins, of Greensboro, N.C.
The bride wore a Victorian gown and hat of ivory lace and pearls. The service was accompanied by a string ensemble and organ. Vocalist were Mr. and Mrs. Greg Hales, Sheri Weaver of Elliston, and the bride. Guest book attendant was Ann Isaac, program attendant was Shirley Isaac, both of Lynchburg. The director was Judy Donnells and decorator was Jeanette Bandy, both of Roanoke.
A garden reception followed at the Lodge of the Fisherman. The honeymoon was at a Disney resort and Cocoa Beach, Fla. The bride is a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Ron Thompson. She is a student at Liberty University. The groom is the son of Melvin Hales of Wilmington, N.C. and Audrey Hales of Roanoke. He is a recent graduate of Liberty University. The couple will reside in Lynchburg.

Anne Wingfield Bailey and Dr. Michael Brent Hall were married May 14, 1994 in Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Salem by Rev. Dr. Robert T. Copenhaver. The reception was held at the Jefferson Center.
The matron of honor was Elsie Wingfield Bailey of Roanoke, mother of the bride. The bridesmaids were Catherine Fox of Roanoke, Patricia Fritts of Roanoke, and Mary Umstead of Raleigh, NC. Junior bridesmaid was Emily Hall of Logansport, In., daughter of the groom. The best man was Raymond Ferguson of Greenville. The ushers were Albert Bailey, IV of Roanoke, brother of the bride, James McMillan of Lexington, and Michael Spence of Greenville.
The bride wore her mother's wedding gown of antique white silk lace over satin and her mother's mantilla of Belgian lace. She carried a cascade of calla lillies, white roses and pin-point ivy.
The bride was given in marriage by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ewell Bailey, III of Roanoke. She is a graduate of Meredith College with a bachelor of science degree in biology. The bride is employed by Elizabeth Arden.
The bridegroom, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Stanford Hall of Marion, is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he received both a bachelor of science in zoology and animal science and his degree in veterinary medicine. He is in private practice.
The newlyweds will live in Raphine after the wedding trip to Barbados.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Roy A. Eck of Roanoke and is employed at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital. The groom is the son of Paul H. Nolte and Virginia Nolte-Pace of Richmond. He is employed at Crown Mazda Dealership in Richmond.
Escorted by her father, the bride had as her only attendants her nieces Lindsay Keener-Eck and Claire Keener-Eck and Ashley Nolte, niece of the groom as flower girls.|

In a double wedding ceremony on the evening of June 4, Grace Allison Edmunds married Bryan Augustus Norsworthy, and Jacquelyn Keith Edmunds married Keith Allen McCurdy at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Tupper Garden and the Rev. James A. Allison Jr. officiated.
The brides are the daughters of Dr. and Mrs. Keith Castleton Edmunds of Roanoke. The brides' paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Flood Edmunds of Roanoke.
The grooms are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Page Norsworthy of Yorktown, Va. and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Edward McCurdy of Roanoke, respectively. Bryan's maternal grandmother is Mrs. Mildred Minor of Williamsburg, Va. Keith's maternal grandmother is Mrs. Hazel Black of Roanoke. His paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Okey I. McCurdy of Huntington, WVa.

A starlight reception in Jefferson Hills followed the wedding.
Grace and Bryan are graduates of Virginia Tech. Jacquelyn is a graduate of UNC Greensboro and Keith is a graduate of Roanoke College and James Madison University.
Following wedding trips, Grace and Bryan will live in Smithfield, Va. Jacquelyn and Keith will continue to live in Roanoke.

Russell Dennis O'Connor and Dr. Cynthia Jean Anneski, both of Roanoke, were united in marriage Saturday, April 30, 1994 at 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Pulaski. The Rev. Timothy Harrison officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Anthony William Anneski of Pulaski. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louie Merricks of Gretna and the late Mrs. Julia Bolker and Mr. Anneski of New Jersey.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Emily Mae O'Connor of Ormond Beach, Fla. and the late Lawrence O'Connor.
The organist was Miss Suzanne Steele of Dublin. The vocalist was Mrs. Brenda Haymore of Knoxville, Tenn.
The bride wore a formal gown of candlelight satin from the House of Bonny and featured an elongated bodice and leg-o'mutton sleeves encrusted with re-embroidered Alencon lace and seed pearls. The scalloped hemline flowed into a chapel train appliqued with lace and seed pearls and accented at the waistline with a bouffant bow. Her fingertip veil of illusion was attached to a tiara of seed pearls which was worn by her mother at her wedding. The bride also wore a strand of pearls which was a gift from her father to her mother when they were married. She carried a cascade bouquet of Lady Diana Roses, gardenias, phalaenopsis orchids, lily of the valley, variegated ivy and caspia.
The matron of honor was Louise Hatcher of Abingdon. The bridesmaids were Dr. Karen Rodeffer-Evans and Mary Childers, both of Roanoke; Monica Dalton of Shawsville. The junior bridesmaid was Samantha Briggs of Chesapeake.
The best man was Kenneth O'Connor of Kennesaw, Ga., brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Anthony Anneski, Jr. of Annandale, brother of the bride; Robert O'Connor of Fitchburg, Mass., brother of the groom; Louis Tames of Winston Salem, N.C.; and Dan Varelli of Salem.
The flowergirl was Caitlin Hatcher and the ring bearer was Christopher Hatcher, both of Abingdon.
Immediately following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception at the Best Western Inn, Radford. The wedding cake was served by Linda Cody of Pulaski.
Presiding at the guest register was Billie Farmer of Pulaski.
The rehearsal dinner was held Friday, April 29, 1994 at First United Methodist Church fellowship hall and catered by Chris' of Radford. It was hosted by Mrs. Emily Mae O'Connor and Russell O'Connor.
Following a wedding trip to Aruba, the couple are residing in Roanoke.

Frances Rebecca Doughton and Michael Lars Olsen were united in marriage on Saturday, June 4th at Sparta United Methodist Church. The Rev. Shelly Wilson-Wall officiated at the 5:30 p.m. ceremony. A program of wed ding music was provided by Marty Young Franklin.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Martha McKnight of Roaring Gap, N.C. and Mr. Claude Thomas Doughton, Jr. of Waynesville, N.C. She is a graduate of Alleghany High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990. The bride is employed as a territory sales representative by L'Oreal Hair Care Division.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Michael Olsen of Charlotte, N.C. He is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and the University of Tennessee in 1990. The groom is employed as a senior production engineer by Sara Lee Knit Products in Rocky Mount, Va.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory romance satin sheath gown with hand-embroidered schiffli lace and detailed with pearls. The gown had a sweetheart neckline and pleated short sleeves that were adorned with hand-rolled satin roses. A detachable chapel length tunnel train was bordered with schiffli lace. She wore a fingertip length veil of rolled illision secured to an ivory Juliet cap made of schiffli lace adorned with pearls and carried a bouquet of gardenias, white roses and freshia.
Miss Ashley Doughton and Miss Catherine Doughton, sisters of the bride, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Kelly Olsen, sister of the groom, Mrs. Ramona Cox, Mrs. Susan Janes, Mrs. Carolann Augustine, Miss Beth Spruill, and Mrs. Carrie Cowan. They wore aqua dupioni silk long sheath dresses with braided trim detailing a sweetheart neckline.
Mr. William Michael Olsen served as the best man. Ushers were Mr. Chris Sewell, Mr. Chip Rieger, Mr. Gus Meyer, Mr. Bill Fraser, Mr. Steve Brewer, Mr. Andy Huggins, Mr. Paul Driscoll, and Mr. Hunter Hickam.
Catie and William Blair, cousins of the bride, served as the flower girl and ring bearer.
Mrs. Rita Woodruff directed the wedding ceremony. Sharon Beshears presided at the guest register. Robyn Russell and Larry Mull handed out the wedding programs.
Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Moneta, Va.
The reception following the wedding, given by the bride's parents was held at High Meadows Country Club. A cocktail buffet was followed by dancing with music provided by UBU of Jamestown, NC.
Mr. and Mrs. William Michael Olsen, parents of the groom, were hosts at a rehearsal dinner honoring the bridal couple and wedding party on Friday, Jun e 3rd at the Olde Beau Golf Club in Roaring Gap, NC. Following the meal, the guests offered toasts and good wishes.
Mrs. Gail Spruill, Miss Beth Spruill, Mrs. Carolann Dineen, and Mrs. Susan Janes hosted a bridesmaid brunch at Roaring Gap Country Club on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
The couple was honored by the groom's parents with a stock-the-bar party at their home on Friday, March 25th.
Frances Doughton, bride-elect, was honored at a luncheon on April 17th hosted by Mrs. Rita Woodruff, Mrs. Angelia Miller, Mrs. Lib Goodman, and Mrs. June McNeil, all of Sparta. The event was appropriately held at the restored home of the bride's great grandfather, Congressman Robert Doughton in Laurel Springs, NC.
Mrs. Linda Turner hosted a kitchen shower for Miss Doughton on Sunday, May 1st, at her home in Winston-Salem.

Sandra Renee Sluss and Michael Darr Shealy were married May 29, 1994 at the historic Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church in Fort Defiance, Virginia. The Reverend Gary McGrew, pastor of the church, officiated the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Lt. Col., USAF, retired and Mrs. Maurice Craig Sluss of Roanoke. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Darr Shealy, Jr. of Marion, South Carolina.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a gown of white silk featuring a bodice overlayed with alencon lace and pearls, a portrait neckline falling into a romantic off the shoulder sleeve daintily accented with lace and pearls, and a skirt of romantic silk flowing into a chapel-length train. The cap style head piece of silk rosebuds, lace and pearls held a veil of finger-tip illusion. She carried a cascading bouquet of gardenia, white roses and ivy.
Donna Stroop of Columbia, Maryland, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Laura Mosby Weddle of Richmond, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. The bridesmaids were her friends, Katherine Bucca of Los Angeles, California, Christine Fedchock of Staunton, Ashley McCombs of Virginia Beach, Parrish Mort of Glen Allen, Sheila Updike of Springfield; and Abby Guy, sister of the groom, of Valdosta, Georgia. The bridesmaids wore floor-length dresses of black shantung with an off the shoulder neckline fashioned with a white overlay. They each carried a single long stemmed white rose. Emily Guy of Valdosta, Georgia and Maeghan Shealy of South Boston, nieces of the groom, were flowergirls.
The groom's father served as best man. His groomsmen were his friends, Christopher Bass of Bedford, Richard Bralley of Mechanicsville, Gregory Weddle of Richmond, Todd Whittaker of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; his brother, Frank Shealy of South Boston; and brothers of the bride, John Sluss of Roanoke, and David Sluss of Blacksburg. Matthew Guy of Valdosta, Georgia and Joshua Shealy of South Boston, nephews of the groom, were ringbearers.

She was formerly employed by Mill Mountain Theatre.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger John Graham White of Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England. He is the grandson of Mrs. Dorothy Moss Greenwood and the late Mr. Tom Lionel Greenwood of Addlestone, Surrey, England. His paternal grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred James White of Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, England. Mr. White graduated from Kingston Grammar School and Reading University, Berkshire, England. He is employed by Redland Properties in Reigate, England.
The veil is a family heirloom first worn by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Ralph W. Hoyt, in 1948. Since then, twelve of her relatives have worn it. The veil is originally from England.
Tracy Bowman Hawthorne of Roanoke was the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Katherine A. J. White, sister of the groom, of Walton-on-Thames; Maria C. Cuzzocrea, cousin of the bride, of Alexandria; Elizabeth Morgan Derrig of Richmond; Carolyn K. Hall and Ann C. Jamison of Roanoke. Kelly B.
