BARE, Lorene Hartberger Brown, 83, of Bent Mountain, passed away Saturday, June 4, 1994, at Friendship Manor Health Care Center. She is survived by two daughters, Susie Brown Bare, husband, Curtis Jack Bare; three children, Vickie Barding, N. C., Cindy Schover, N. C., Jack Bare, Mass.; second daughter, Becky Brown Ragland, husband, Bobby Ragland; three sons, David, Dale and Shannon, Roanoke; one son, Glenn Brown Jr., wife, Millie Martin Brown; son, Chip Brown, Houston, Texas; two brothers, Russell Hartberger; sister-in-law, Talitha and Gerald Hartberger, Waco, Texas; nine great-grandhcildren. A memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, June 8, 1994, 1 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Kelly Dampeer officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday one half hour prior to service.

BOITNOTT, James Dandridge Jr., 38, of Rt. 3, Ferrum, died Saturday, May 7, 1994. Surviving are his wife, Corlis Boitnott; two sons, James Mitchell Boitnott, Jeremiah Dandridge Boitnott, both of the home; his parents, James and Annie Boitnott, Boones Mill; three brothers, Joe Boitnott, Callaway, David Boitnott, Rocky Mount, Charles Boitnott, Burnt Chimney; three sisters, Kathy Bointnott, Alexandria, Joyce Bennett and Goldie Moore, both of Rocky Mount; grandmother, Mrs. Lelia Boitnott, Boones Mill; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. BOYER, Irene Bartlett, 76, of Rt. #5, Galax, Va., passed away Saturday, June 4, 1994, at Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem, Va. Born April 28, 1918, at Baywood, Va. to William Wren and Myrtle Bartlett. She was a member of Longview United Methodist Church; member of Galax V.F.W. Auxillary. She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Boyer and two daughters, Cynthia Boyer Mooney and Frances Lee Boyer. Surviving are husband, Paul Boyer of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Ray and Marie Boyer, Roanoke, Va., Rheanie and Carol Boyer, Chesapeake, Va., Danny and Twyla Boyer, Fries, Va.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Tommy Nichols, Betty and Jerry Cook, Alesa and Marty Spurlin all of Galax, Va., Nancy Obenshain, Roanoke, Va.; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Howard Love, Ima Lee and Gary Hanlin, Jo Ella and Bill Edwards, all of Galax, Va.; Rose Osborne, Galax, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Nell Bartlett, Galax, Va., Jerry and Sheila Bartlett, Roanoke, Va.; brother-in-law, Raleigh Fields, Galax, Va.; 20 grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren. BRYANT, Creed L., 91, of Austinville, passed away Saturday, June 4, 1994, at Waddell Nursing Home. Born January 8, 1903, in Carroll County, Va. the son of the late William Thomas Bryant and Lillie Jennings Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beulah S. Bryant; five sons and daughters-in-law, Chester Bryant, Glouchester, Cecil and Faye Bryant of Galax, Junior and Dot Bryant, Pearlie and Shirley Bryant, both of Richmond, Ernest and Debbie Bryant of Stafford; five daughters and sons-in-law, Lorena Llewellyn of Richmond, Rodessa Edward Semones of Martinsville , Norma and Jack Gregory of Buckingham, Joan and Elton Worrell of Hillsville, Shirley and Charles Starr of Lynchburg; two sisters, Bertha Mabe of Austinville and Linnie Quesenberry, Hillsville; 23 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 20 great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren. BRYANT, Thelma Bible, 90, of Roanoke, died Saturday, June 4, 1994, in a local nursing home. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph E. Bible Sr. and Charles Roy Bryant. Surviving are two sons, Ralph E. Bible Jr., Johnson City, Tenn. and Richard G. Bible, Roanoke; a daughter, Jean Bible Smith, Roanoke; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Lee J. (Juanita) Griffith, Roanoke, Mrs. Frank (Sybil) James, Roanoke, and Mrs. Charles (Sylvia) Jamison, Roanoke. Funeral services will be from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 1994, with the Rev. Charles Ward officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. DAVIS, David V. Jr. LCPL, 21, of Roanoke, died in Okinawa, Japan on Monday, May 30, 1994. He was serving in the U. S. Marine Corps there. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1990. He is survived by his parents, David and Jewell Davis, Roanoke; brother, J. Brent Karr, Roanoke; sister, Sherri Karr Perdue, Roanoke; grandparents, Roy and Mae Davis, Poplar Camp, Kenneth and Alpha Davis, Roanoke; niece, April Perdue; nephew, Derrick Pratt, both of Roanoke; uncles and aunts, Dennis and Penne' Davis, Alexandria, Robert (Bob) and Betty Caywood, Roanoke, Sherman and Adell Riggan, Christiansburg, Roy and Barbara Shinault, Poplar Camp, Dennis and Mary Lou Dyer, Melbourne, Fla.; and 20 cousins. FIZER, Clara Flowers, 73, of Route 1, Troutville, formerly of Vinton, died Saturday, June 4, 1994, in a local hospital. She was the daughter of the late John Huston and Suzie Peters Flowers. She was preceded in death by two sons, Reginald and Ronald St. Clair; two granddaughters, Andrea St. Clair and Rhonda Shelor. Surviving are a son Roger Fizer, Troutville; two daughters and son-in-law, Gloria and Tim Richardson, Goodview, Carol Fizer Shelor, Vinton; grandchildren, Lynda M. Cook, Scott Madison, Danny and Derek Martin, Cathy Witt, Beverly Soto, Tracey Melvin, Todd and Kenneth St. Clair; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas S. HOLT, Viola Jacobs, 74, of Roanoke, died Saturday, June 4, 1994, in a local hospital. Surviving are six daughters, Barbara Chisom, Dorothy Clemmer, Linda Faye Abbott, Sue Wilson all of Roanoke, Betty Scarbrough, Goodview, Helen Powers, Vinton; two sons, James Holt Jr. and Tony Holt both of Roanoke; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. HYLTON, Elder Andrew Jackson, 72, of Willis, passed away Saturday, June 4, 1994 at Radford Community Hospital. He was a Primitive Baptist Minister for forty-seven years, currently serving Thumb Run Church in Faquier County, Mount Carmel Church in Luray, Martinsburg Church in Martinsburg, W. Va. and Blue Ridge Church in Willis. He was preceded in death by a son, David Jackson Hylton. Survivors include his wife, Dora May Moore Hylton, Amissville, Va.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Gail and Ed Evers, Westlake Village, Calif, Rebecca H. and Beau Platt, Providence Forge, Va.; three sisters, Loretta Donnelly, Willis, Pauleda Dunn, Staunton, Kate Boone, Willis; five grandchildren, Olivia, Alexander and Nicholas Evers, Hill and Andrew Platt. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Blue Ridge Primitive Baptist Church, Willis, with Elder Phillip Johnson and Elder Toliver Utz officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd. LOGWOOD, Theopatria Arrington, (``Polly""), 80, of Route 5, Bedford, died Sunday, June 5, 1994 at her residence. She was born in Bedford County on May 16, 1914, a daughter of the late Roland Eugene Arrington and Etta Jane Vaughn Arrington. She was a retired employee of Bedford County Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Carrol Logwood. She is survived by two brothers, Roy R. Arrington, Forest, Joseph E. Arrington, Bedford; three sisters, Janie E. Arrington, Bedford, Gertrude A. Pryor, Amelia, Perley A. Goolsby, Richmond; many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 1994 at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ken Horne and the Rev. James A. POWELL, Lois H., 86, of Vinton, died Sunday, June 5, 1994. She was the widow of Mitchell L. Powell and a long time member of the Vinton Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Belle and James Gee of Richmond, Barbara and Buddy Williams, Mechanicsville; son and daughter-in-law, Bennie and Pat Powell of Vinton; seven grandchildren, Gail Gee-Bailey, Susan Pemberton, Cathie Skaggs, Raymi Catron, Julie Moore, Kristy Powell, Cara Powell; five great-grandchildren; brother, Charles B. Mrs. Robinson was born in Carroll County, Va. on March 27, 1921, a daughter of the late John Randolph Cruise and Lucy Sutphin Cruise. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle D. Robinson. SMITH, Thelma Blankenship, 73, of Rich Creek, Va., died Saturday, June 4, 1994. She was born at Willowton, W.Va. on March 7, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Henry Dexter and Bessie Odell Davis Robertson. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold (Snooky) Blankenship. She was a retired licensed practical nurse at the Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem, Va. She is survived by her present husband, Lawrence William Smith of Rich Creek, Va.; three sons, Ronnie Harold Blankenship, Bristol, Va., Houston Dexter Blankenship, Midlothian, Va., Wayne Bryant Smith, Holden Beach, N.C.; three daughters, Lillian (Becky) Ganoe, Narrows, Va., Bonnie Blankenship Hawley, Christiansburg, Va., Brenda Smith Ransom, Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, H.D. Robertson, Jr., Narrows, Va., Kenneth (Bucky) Robertson, Peterstown, W.Va.; a sister, Blanche R. French, Narrows, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows with Mike Lynn, Minister and Rev. Alan Wilder officiating. SMITH, Theodore Marvin Sr., 74, of Roanoke, died at his home Sunday, June 5, 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell R. Smith Sr. and Anna Flaherty Smith of Parkersburg, W. Va., and his only brother, Russell R. Smith Jr. of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. He graduated from Parkersburg High School and attended Louisiana State University. During World War II, he was a Naval Flight Instructor, specializing in Secondary Flight and a member of the OX5 Club of America. In Blacksburg, Va., he organized and was captain of the Civil Air Patrol. After the war, he was a pilot with Am erican Airlines. He was an officer in the Roanoke General Insurance Agents and Managers Association. He was a member of the South Roanoke United Methodist Church and a past member of the Roanoke Country Club and the Shenandoah Club. Surviving are his wife, Anne Lee Gardner Smith; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ted M. Smith Jr. and wife, Dianne, Roanoke, Tyson Gardner Smith and wife, Gay, Shawsville; and one grandson, Ted M. Smith III, Palm Bay, Fla. Also surviving are three nephews, Daniel, Douglas and Stuart Smith of California and a special cousin, Judge Ray L. McKim of Midland, Texas. A memorial service will be at Oakey's Downtown Chapel on Tuesday, June 7, 1994 at 12 noon. The family will receive friends at the home on Monday from 3 to 5 p.m.

TOTTEN, Bessie Snider, 87, of Richmond, formerly of Radford, died Saturday, June 4, 1994. A Smyth County native, she grew up on Snider's Branch. She came to Radford in 1924. She was a graduate of Radford State Teacher's College, now Radford University, where she majored in mathematics. After graduation, she taught in one-room schools in Smyth and Montgomery County, Va. She also taught in Floyd County and retired from the Pulaski County School System. She was the widow of James C. (Red) Totten, owner and operator of the Old Spanish Grille and Totten's Esso Service Center in Radford. She was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Loraine Minetree; and a grandson, Carl Lamar Minetree, both of Richmond. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Emma Kate Beckham; and a brother, Albert G. Snider, both of Roanoke. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, with the Rev. Earnest Shinault officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

TRAVERS, Evelyn Currell, 81, of Fincastle, died Saturday, June 4, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. (Dick) Travers. She is survived by one son, David A. Travers of Vermont; two daughters, Joyce T. Dombroski, Vinton, Mary Jane Ladenheim, Fincastle; a sister-in-law, Mary Scott Gerhard of Pennsylvania; niece, Ruth Thomas Miller, Dexter, Ga.; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 7, 1994, 4 p.m., at the Fincastle United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michael Lyle officiating. Va. to John W. and Essie Dancey Zachary, He was a self-employed farmer, veteran, serving with the U. S. Navy in the Korean Conflict, member of Mouth of Wilson Masonic Lodge #223, A.F. & A.M., and member of Little Wilson United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Zachary, of the home; five daughters, Robin Zachary, Rural Retreat, Deb bie Zachary, Christiansburg, Kathy Kincer, Wytheville, Anita Perkins, Troutdale, Freda Zachary, of the home; grandson, Nick Perkins, Troutdale; mother, Essie Zachary, Grant; brother, Tom Zachary, Mouth of Wilson.
