INFANT, TEEN KILLED IN CHESAPEAKE WRECK

A 7-month-old girl riding in her mother's lap was one of two people killed early Saturday morning when a car plunged into a ditch.

The infant, Lydia Barraza, was thrown from the car and died at the scene, police said. Also killed was a 15-year-old girl whose name was being withheld Sunday. Four others in the car were injured.

The infant's mother, Lora Barraza, 18, was treated for minor injuries.

Only the infant was not wearing a restraining device, police said. Virginia law requires that all children under age 4 or weighing less than 40 pounds be restrained in an approved safety seat.

No charges had been filed. - Associated Press
