Other cash prizes and trophies will be awarded in adult and youth (up to age 13) divisions for the largest fish in five categories: small-mouth and large-mouth bass, catfish, crappie and sunfish.
First-place prizes are $50 in the adult division and $25 in the youth division.
A consolation prize will be awarded if ``Sly Sam,'' the tagged bass, is caught after the tournament and before Sept. 6.
The tournament is sponsored by the park and 1260-J Radio.
New River Cruise Company will offer a free scenic cruise aboard the Pioneer Maid at 10 a.m. for tournament participants.
A warden from the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will give a talk at 11 a.m. on Claytor Lake wildlife.
The tournament will start at 8 a.m. at the park gazebo. There is no registration fee, but anglers must have a registration card and check in with the tournament director. People can register and get tournament rules by visiting or calling the radio station (382-4993) or going to Blacksburg Feed and Seed; the Carpet Mart, also in Blacksburg; Furniture City, S.G. Wimmer and Sons or S&M Milling, all in Christiansburg; Heilig Myers Furniture Stores, in Christiansburg, Radford or Pulaski; or the park office (telephone 674-5492).
All preregistered participants are entitled to free parking and boat launching on the day of the event. Those without registration cards must pay the $2.50 parking fee.
