ETC. 6 TIMESLAND TEAMS SEEKING STATE TITLES

Six Timesland teams chase state titles this week with Martinsville's soccer team first up tonight.

The Bulldogs play host to Tabb at 7 p.m. in the Group AA championship game. Martinsville came back from a Region III loss to William Byrd and upset defending Group AA state champion Blacksburg and the Terriers in the state tournament last week to earn a berth in the finals.

Glenvar, William Byrd, Franklin County and Carroll County will be seeking state baseball titles. Byrd plays at Carroll County Thursday at 5 p.m. in the first round of the Group AA tournament. Also Thursday, Glenvar takes on Pound at 4 p.m. at Salem High in the Group A tournament. Glenvar finished as Group A runnerup last year.

Franklin County plays West Potomac on Friday at 7 p.m. at Fairfax High in the first round of the Group AAA state tournament.

In Group A softball, Glenvar plays host to Twin Springs at 7 p.m. at the Moyer Complex on Thursday. The Highlanders, as long as they win, will be at home. James River is playing at St. Paul on Friday at 2 p.m.
