RUGGED ACTOR BARRY SULLIVAN DIES AT 81

Barry Sullivan, the rugged actor who co-starred in ``Queen Bee'' with Joan Crawford and ``The Bad and the Beautiful'' with Kirk Douglas, is dead at 81.

Sullivan, who had been suffering from a respiratory ailment, died Monday at his suburban Sherman Oaks home, family spokesman Warren Seabury said.

Sullivan also starred in Steven Spielberg's TV directorial debut ``Night Gallery'' in 1969 and appeared in several TV series, including ``Bonanza,'' ``The Streets of San Francisco'' and ``Cannon.''

Born in New York City, Sullivan worked as a theater usher and department store buyer before making his Broadway debut in 1936. He played the defense lawyer in ``The Caine Mutiny Court Martial'' on Broadway.
