WOMAN MURDERED HUSBAND FOR MONEY

A woman was convicted Wednesday of murdering her soldier husband for life insurance money days after he returned from the Gulf War.

Toni Cato Riggs showed no reaction as the Detroit Recorder's Court jury pronounced her guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Her brother already is serving life for the March 1991 shooting death of Army Spc. Anthony Riggs.

Riggs faces mandatory life in prison without parole on the convictions.

Anthony Riggs, 22, worked as a Patriot missile crewman in the war and was shot to death in front of his house 10 days after returning.
