Girl's basketball camp to be held June 20-23

The Cave Spring Lady Knights Basketball Team is holding a basketball camp for girls ages 7 to 13 from June 20-23 at Cave Spring High School.

The camp, which will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, will be divided by age, size and ability.

Campers are required to bring a bag lunch; drinks will be provided. The cost is $60 and includes a camp T-shirt. For registration information, call the Knights Booster Club at 989-0882.

Pool tournament will raise money for MDA

Members of the Shenandoah Pool League are holding a pool tournament on June 12 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Southwest and Central Virginia.

The tournament will be held at the Cin-Ter Tavern in Salem at 4 p.m. All proceeds will be used to benefit local MDA families.

Summer tennis camps to be held in Salem

The Salem Department of Parks and Recreation is sponsoring two summer tennis camps. The registration deadline is Monday.

A Pee Wee Tennis Camp will be held in Salem for children ages 4 to 6 at Oakey's tennis courts. Two sessions, which will run June 20-24, will be offered: one from 9 to 10 a.m. and another from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $35 per session. Campers need to bring a tennis racquet.

Another camp for children ages 7 to 16 will be held at the Salem Civic Center tennis courts. It will be offered July 18-22 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $80 per child and includes 20 hours of instruction, games, drills, tournament type play, camp T-shirts, water bottle and more. Participants must bring their own racquets.

Red Cross to host 8th annual golf tourney

The Roanoke Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its eighth annual golf tournament at Hanging Rock Country Club on June 13.

Lunch will be served at noon, and the tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. Golfers will compete for a variety of awards and prizes, including a new Ford to be given away by Magic City Ford for a hole-in-one on a designated par-three hole.

Greens fees, cart rental, refreshments and gifts are included in the entry fee of $100 per person, $400 per team. For more information, contact the American Red Cross 985-3559.
