\ AMY ELIZABETH LINDAMOOD, daughter of Robert E. and Anita D. Lindamood of Roanoke, is one of four dancers from Hollins College chosen to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D.C.
Lindamood is a sophomore and a graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
\ MARY FITZGERALD, assistant professor of art history at Roanoke College, has been chosen to participate in a National Endowment for the Humanities 1994 Summer Seminar for College Teachers at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.
Fitzgerald, as one of 12 scholars, will receive a $3,200 stipend. The seminar is entitled, "Constructing the Image of the State, the Family and the Individual in Renaissance Florence and Venice."
Before joining the Roanoke College faculty, Fitzgerald taught at Syracuse University, Ithaca College, Ohio University, Colgate University and Wright State University. She received her Ph.D. in the history of Italian art from Syracuse University.
\ THE FLEMING-RUFFNER MAGNET CENTER'S School of Global Studies has formed a partnership with the New College of Global Studies of Radford University.
The beginning of the association was marked at a news conference with Gennadi Gerasimov, the former Russian ambassador to the West. The premier edition of New World, the biannual publication of the New College, featured a full-page article showcasing the Fleming-Ruffner School of Global Studies.

\ MELISSA ANNE WILLCOX, daughter of Phillip G. Jr. and Judith E. Willcox of Roanoke, has been named to "Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities." She is studying family and child development and early childhood education at Virginia Tech.
\ JANELL T. SOWERS, of Troutville, won the Martha Nell Tucker Freshman Biology Award at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. The award is given on the basis of scholarship, dedication and interest in the biology field.
\ GLEN R. RADFORD, son of Lois Radford of Troutville and the late Shirley Radford, was selected for Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
Radford is a Ferrum College senior majoring in environmental science.
\ JEFFREY BARNETT, son of Jeff and Freda Barnett of Roanoke, was named the 1993-94 William Fleming Trig-Star.
A junior, Barnett participated in a trigonometry competition co-sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors and T.P Parker and Son. Runners-up in the competition were Jamal Millner, Huy Nguyen, Shafiq Waller and Julie Waddle.
\ ROANOKE COLLEGE recently award the Roanoke College Medal to four alumni from the Roanoke Valley: Rev. Guy "Tex" Ritter of Salem; William M. Moir of Roanoke; and Weldon T. Lawrence and Doris Wright Lawrence of Hollins.
The award recognizes outstanding alumni who represent the ideals of responsible leadership, intellectual integrity and good citizenship through their professional accomplishments and service to their communities and alma mater.
\ KELLY DIERKER, daughter of Richard and Judy Dierker of Roanoke, has been selected to serve as a residence assistant at Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, N.C.
Dierker is a freshman.
\ SARAH E. MOORE of Roanoke recently was selected to the Longwood College chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi national honor society. Moore is a senior majoring in English.
\ LISA FREELAND BENNETT, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Freeland of Roanoke, recently received the Wall Street Journal Award at Freed-Hardeman University, Henderson, Tenn.
Bennett is a senior accounting major.
\ CHRISSONIA C. WINFREE, daughter of Tellis and Gail LaMar of 913 Kellogg Ave. N.W., has been awarded the Heritage Scholarship to Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The scholarship is given to students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership and character. Winfree will receive $7,000 each year, renewable annually, up to a total of $28,000.
Winfree is a senior at William Fleming High School.
\ WILLIAM BYRD HIGH SCHOOL announced that the following students have been selected for the Kiwanis Club's "Distinguished Student Award": Brian E. Taylor, technology education; Nicole L. Spradlin, fashion marketing; Michael Sutton, accounting; Brian S. Hannabass, general marketing; Samantha Huffman, word processing; and Tim Perdue, masonry.
