Two members of Pizzazz Star City Twirlers recently competed in the Miss Majorette of Virginia competition in Hampton.
Kristin Dalton, 15, daughter of Anette and Wayne Dalton of Roanoke, won the junior beginner division. She will compete in July for the national title.
Candice Nelson, 12, daughter of Jane and Roy Nelson of Roanoke, was first runner up in the preteen novice division.
Roanoke CASA elects lawyer as chairman
Roanoke lawyer Ellen Weinman recently was elected chairwoman of the Roanoke Valley Court Appointed Special Advocate Foundation.
Other officers include: Charles Lunsford, vice chairman; Uneita Anderson, treasurer; and Billie Wall, secretary.
New members elected to serve on the board were: Vickie Haynie, Debbie Kaplan, Charlotte Porterfield and Joan Wilson.
The group also recently received a $5,000 donation from Signet Bank for 1994-95.
Roanoke Ski Club elects new officers
Charlie Bates recently was elected president of the Roanoke Ski Club.
Other officers and directors include: Chris Pappas, vice president; Sherry Christensen, secretary; Dale Hoyt, treasurer; Roger Pomerenke, past director; Martin Etzler Jr., summer activities director; Ron Nemura, program director; Jim Beamer, trip director; and Gordon Hamilton, membership director.
The club, which has 317 members, has been in existence 31 years. In addition to annual ski trips and a ski show, the clubs holds outings in the spring, summer and fall.
