Several students will received awards during the recital. They include: Amy Edwards and Molly Rutherford, 14-year dance awards; Anastasia Bacalis, Sarah Clyburn and Lisa Mayhue, 12-year; Alicia Davis, Amber Mayhue, Blake Points, Sarah Rutherford, and Anna Sargent, 10-year; Mary Beth Brown, Jennie Carter, Sarah Clarke, Elizabeth Daly, Mary Margaret Gilliam, Allison Heath, Christy Jones, Lauren Keller, Ann Lawson, Elizabeth Layman, Stephanie Love, Jackie Malcolm, Elizabeth Montgomery, Kara Morgan, Dagny Patton, Katie Sobotta, Charlsie Stephenson, Nicole Strickland, Mary Elizabeth Weaver, and Koren Webb, 5-year.
The school also participated in the Showstoppers Regional Competition in Durham, N.C. The junior group won second place in jazz and second place in tap in the 13 to 14 age group. They placed eighth overall in jazz.
The senior group won first place in tap and third place in jazz in the 15 to 16 age group. They placed ninth overall in tap.
Both groups qualified for the national competition in Myrtle Beach, S.C. in July.
Roanokers to serve on heart association board
Dr. Joseph L. Austin and Stephen A. Purves, both of Roanoke are serving on the board of directors of the American Heart Association Virginia Affiliate for the 1994-95 campaign year.
Austin is immediate past president of the board.
