Masonic lodge honors former Leggett manager

Sidney G. Miller recently received the Community Builders Award from the Webber High Twelve Lodge No. 282.

Miller, retired general manager of the Leggett stores at Tanglewood and Valley View Malls, is an active member of the Rescue Mission Board of Directors, and does volunteer work with a food pantry and a clothes closet. Roanoker wins award for work as editor

Charlie Warren recently received the Albert McClellen Award for Exceptional Achievement in Print Media and Design in the Baptist Public Relations Association awards competition.

He won first place in the magazine category for his work as editor of "Home Life" magazine.

Warren, son of Bee Warren of Roanoke, is a graduate of William Fleming High School.

Majorettes place at state competition in Hampton

Two members of Pizzazz Star City Twirlers recently competed in the Miss Majorette of Virginia competition in Hampton.

Kristin Dalton, 15, daughter of Anette and Wayne Dalton of Roanoke, won the junior beginner division. She will compete in July for the national title.

Candice Nelson, 12, daughter of Jane and Roy Nelson of Roanoke, was first runner up in the preteen novice division.
