MAN SURRENDERS IN SALEM RAPE CASE

A 28-year-old Roanoke County man accused of raping a 17-year-old Salem girl turned himself in to police Thursday morning.

Michael Wyche of the 4700 block of Mews Hill Drive is charged with rape and breaking and entering to commit rape.

The victim told police that a man she did not know walked through the unlocked front door of her home about 3 p.m. on June 3, argued with her and raped her.

Wyche turned himself in at the Salem police station and was being held in Salem City Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bond.

|- DIANE STRUZZI They argued and then he dragged her into the bedroom and raped her, she said. The man fled in a car.

Salem police had been looking for Wyche since then.

At 11:25 a.m. Thursday,

Late Thursday, Wyche remained in Salem City Jail in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond.

, he did not say where he had been for the past several days, Sgt. D.R. Divers said.
