AUTO RACING AGNEW, MCGUIRES MEET AT NRVS

Brothers Tim and Tony McGuire of Roanoke will try to apply more pressure to points leader Jeff Agnew of Floyd when the Late Model Stocks battle for 100 laps in the Jesse Jones 200 at New River Valley Speedway Saturday night.

Tim and Tony McGuire are second and third in the points standings.

Gates open at 2 p.m., with practice starting at 4. Qualifying is at 6:15 and the first green flag falls at 8.

Franklin County Speedway will add 50 pounds to Ford and Chrysler Late Model Stock cars starting with this Saturday's Virgil Goode 300, promoter Whitey Taylor announced Thursday.

Rodney "Six-Pack" Cundiff, driving a Ford Thunderbird, and Bobby Radford, driving a Dodge, have combined to win nine of the past 11 Late Model races. Taylor said the added weight will make the cars more evenly balanced against General Motors cars.

Children under 10 are admitted free. Adults pay $5. Gates open at noon, and qualifying starts at 6 p.m. The Virgil Goode 300 starts at 8 p.m.
