DANVILLE - The only commercial airline serving Danville Regional Airport isn't making any money there and wants to discontinue the flights.

CCAIR, which contracts with Charlotte, N.C.-based USAir Express, hopes to be out of Danville by Aug. 31, said Mike Holcomb, CCAIR/USAir Express director of marketing.

Danville is one of 22 small airports in the nation likely to lose federal air service subsidies. Danville's subsidy is in danger because the airport is too close to the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, N.C.
