`SPEED' IS A WILD RIDE

"Speed" is the best of its kind since "Die Hard." z It's a cheerfully

mindless summer action picture that rollicks along at a mad pace for two full hours. If the performances don't really rise above the stereotyped characters, that's a forgivable flaw. No one is supposed to take this fun-house ride seriously.
