COURT OF APPEALS GRANTS IVERSON'S APPEAL

The Virginia Court of Appeals will consider whether there was enough evidence to convict high school basketball star Allen Iverson of three counts of maiming by mob.

In an order made public Friday, the court granted Iverson's appeal on the evidence granted Iverson's appeal on the evidence question but refused to consider arguments not raised at trial and whether he was denied effective counsel.

The elements of the petition rejected by the court will be appealed to the state Supreme Court, according to Iverson's attorney, Larry H. Woodward.

The appeals court probably will hear Iverson's case sometime in the fall, Woodward said. Iverson, eligible for parole in August, has signed a letter of intent to play for Georgetown.
