BOWEN, Sarah Lovelace, of Roanoke, formerly of Tazewell, Va., died Sunday, June 12, 1994, at the home of her daughter in Salem. She was the widow of Francis B. (Jack) Bowen, and was born on December 1, 1918, in Petersburg, Va., to the late Peachy Shields Lovelace and Jessie Reid Lovelace. She received her Bachelor's degree from Radford State Teacher's College and her Master's degree from the University of Virginia. Mrs. Bowen was a retired school teacher, having taught for forty-two years primarily in Roanoke City and Tazewell County. She retired from Patrick Henry High School, where she served as a Reading Specialist and English teacher. Mrs. Bowen was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Retired Teachers Association, the Wednesday Morning History Club, Daughters of the American Colonists, and Daughters of the Magna Carta. She was a member of Raleigh Court Presbysterian Church and enjoyed several bridge clubs. Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Louise Bowen Dillon of Roanoke, Ellen B. and Joseph H. Austin of Salem; a brother and sister-in-law, Landon R. and Helen M. Lovelace of Roanoke; grandchildren, Sarah Lovelace Dillon, Ellen Elizabeth Dillon, Helen Louise Dillon, Robert Nathan Thomas, Megan Virginia Austin; two nephews, Mark Reid Lovelace of Connecticut, Thomas Claiborne Lovelace of North Carolina. Services will be held at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 1994 with Dr. F. Tupper Garden and the Rev. Gene B. Edmunds officiating. Interment will follow in Jeffersonville Cemetery, Tazewell, Va. 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, where the family will be from 7 until 9 p.m Monday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church or the Good Samaritan Hospice.

BROWN, Catherine Crockett, 90, of Roanoke, formerly of Salem, died Saturday, June 11, 1994 in a Roanoke Nursing Home. She was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Claude K. Brown. Survivors include a nephew, Irvin C. Wood of Roanoke; a niece, Arline Russell, of Greensboro, N.C.; a great-niece, Judith Logan of Garner, N.C.; a good friend, Daniel Duffy of Roanoke. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 14, 1994, 12 noon at the Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Dennis Herman will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m.

BURNETT, Charles David Sr., (Sonny), 60 of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, June 11, 1994 at his home with his wife by his side. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Burnett; former wife, Billie Sue Burnett Messier and their children, Charles D. Burnett Jr., Pamela D. Woods, Edward L. Burnett, James W. Burnett, Judith W. Reid, Bonnie B. Benton, all of Roanoke; eight grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens by Chaplain Cecil G. Irwin. Military honors will be presented by V.F.W. Post #1264. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.

GRANT, Joyce Ann, 57, of Roanoke, died Saturday, June 11, 1994. She is survived by her daughters, Leza K. Crozier, Vinton, Andrea L. Workman, Bedford; granddaughter, Jennifer Leighann Carr; her mother, Lillian E. Justice; stepfather, Virgil Justice, both of Colonial Heights; stepmother, Ora Wickham, Roanoke; brothers, Tony Stamatas, Steve Wickham; sisters, Donna Maitland, Debra Brandt, Michelle Crossett, Gloria Henson, Kathy Via. Funeral services will be noon Wednesday, June 15, at the New Life Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church by Pastor Walter L. Wood with burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. GRAVES, Elsie Lorna Moore, 87, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, June 11, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mrs. Graves was born in Inez, Kentucky on June 17, 1906, a daughter of the late Albert Moore and Angline Smith Moore. She was a life-long resident of Blacksburg and had a retirement home at Cape Coral, Florida for 24 years. Mrs. Graves was a member of Blacksburg First Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death by a son, William H. ""Bill"" Graves. Survivors include her husband, Charles Lee Graves; one daughter, Wanda L. Dillon, Blacksburg; two sons, Eddie Joe Graves, Roanoke, and Sammey R. Graves, Blacksburg: three half-sisters, Mary Emfinger and Lilia Adams both of Pilgrim, Kentucky, and M arie Whalen, Columbia., Kentucky; two brothers, Everett Moore, Jackson, Kentucky and Oscar Moore, Lovely, Kentucky; two half-brothers, T. J. Moore and Albert Moore Jr. both of Kentucky; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 1994, at Blacksburg First Wesleyan Church with the Rev. John Hopkins and the Rev. Charles King officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.

MEADOWS, Antonio, (""Tony""), 62, of Roanoke, died Friday, June 10, 1994. Mr. Meadows is survived by his wife, Peggy R. Meadows; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael & Teresa Meadows of Cloverdale, Charles Meadows of Roanoke, and Frederick and Lynn Meadows of Roanoke; three daughters & sons-in-law, Twila and Donald Buckley of Vinton, Belinda and Perry Jones Jr., of Roanoke, and Marsha and Vieng Vongphakdy of Charlotte, N.C. and eight grandchildren. ROBINSON, Edward T., 47, of Salem, died Saturday, June 11, 1994 in Lewis Gale Hospital. He was employed by the James River Equipment Company as a sales manager for many years, was a member of the American Legion Post #141. He was involved in the Glenvar Youth Booster as a coach and coordinator and was also an Army Viet Nam Veteran. He is preceded in death by his father Albert Lee Robinson. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte O. Robinson; three sons, Darrell W., Keith A. and Brian E. Robinson; his mother, Pauline W. Robinson; two brothers, Joseph L. and Donald W. Robinson, all of Salem. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 1994 11 a.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem with the Rev. Sam Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

SWEET, William C., (Bill), 75, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, June 11, 1994 in a local hospital. Mr. Sweet was a veteran of World War II, a retired conductor with the N&W Railway and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Mr. Sweet was a volunteer for the Williamson Road Action Forum. Surviving are his wife, Louise W. Sweet; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert W. and Brenda M. Sweet, Roanoke, Jerry S. and Sue W. Sweet, Buchanan; five grandchildren, Christopher W. Sweet, Cary L. Sweet, Kimberly D. Sweet, Sherry M. Sweet, Elizabeth C. Sweet; brother, Fred Sweet, Salem; sister, Eleanor Rowe, Troutville. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. Emory N. Tarpley Sr. and the Rev. Arthur E. Grant. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. THOMAS, Bryan William, of Salem, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 1994 as a result of an automobile accident in South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, W. Joyce Thomas. He is survived by his father and mother, Jay and Jean Thomas; maternal grandparents, Alice and Charlie Whitmire of Roanoke; paternal grandmother, Nanette Thomas-Carter of Salem; also Kim and Mike Simmons of Salem; aunt and uncle, Ron and Julie Staff of Oneonto, N.Y.; numerous cousins, great-aunts and uncles. Bryan was a sophomore at Glenvar High School and a member of the junior varsity and varsity football teams, varsity soccer and other clubs and school activities. he was a good son and friend to many. He will be sadly missed by many family members and friends. We love you very much, son and with the help of God, we will have the strength to live our lives with this tragic loss. You will be in our prayers each and every day. Goodbye, our precious son. Many thanks to all the personnel at Chesterfield Medical Center and rescue squad personnel of Cheraw, S.C. VEST, Paul Kingrea, 65, of Christiansburg, died Sunday, June 12, 1994 in the Montgomery Regional Hospital. He is survived by one daughter, Sherry Elaine Schoolfield, Christiansburg; two sons, Larry Paul Vest, Pulaski, Jerry Lee Vest, Christiansburg, five brothers, Frank Vest, Ellis Vest, Shelby Vest, Nelson Vest, all of Floyd and Ancel Vest, Christiansburg; four grandchildren. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the graveside in the White Oak Grove Cemetery. WEDDLE, Victor Aryless, 91, of Pulaski, died Saturday, June 11, 1994 in the Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center, Kingsport, Tenn. Born in Carroll County, July 11, 1902, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Weddle and Hester Bowman Weddle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Folden Weddle. He is survived by three sons, William R. Weddle, Elizabethton, Tenn., Jack Ray Weddle, Monroe, N. C., Joseph L. Weddle, Pulaski; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Carol) W. Bias, Barboursville, W. Va., Linda W. Blevins, Gate City, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. from Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. R. D.
