UVA LACROSSE SIGNS OAKEY

Virginia has signed lacrosse player Henry Oakey, son of former Roanoker Ted Oakey, to a letter of intent.

Dom Starsia, the Cavaliers' coach, said the Charlottesville player is ``one of the finest prospects to come from Central Virginia.'' Oakey played his last two years of high school at Deerfield (Mass.) Academy.

Division I runner-up UVa also signed Garden City, N.Y., midfielder Drew Melchionni, whose father, Bill, played in the National Basketball Association. Drew Melchionni's brother, Keith, was an All-America lacrosse player at Duke.
