Boys and Girls State nominees were: Bethany Miller and Tony Joyce. Outstanding Service Awards were awarded to Milana Drewry, Brian Slenski, Tiffany Arrington, Poppy Bilbra-Jacobs, Philip Buch, Jackie Hinman and Danny Rowland.
Tiffany Arrington received the Most Outstanding Service Award for the Third Quarter for the Entire School.
Travis Slusher, Jennifer O'Meara, Tara Webb, Beau King and Mary Molinary each received General Excellence Awards for their grades. Mary Molinary received the General Excellence Award for the Entire School.
\ THE COLLEGE OF WILLIAM AND MARY has announced the names of Roanoke Valley graduates.
Emily Beth Leach, Devon Elizabeth Meadows, Christie Laverne Meredith and Lisa Marie Kahle are graduates from Roanoke.
Also: Sheila Michelle Osborne and Jonathan Richard Ferrell from Troutville; William Joseph Vance from Salem; and Betsy Shea Starnes from Vinton.
Vance graduated magna cum laude.
\ MELISSA SCHAUER KILLEN, daughter of Dana and Mary Ann Schauer of Roanoke, recently graduated from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville.
Killen, who received a bachelor of science in psychology, was a member and officer of Psi Chi.
\ HARRY L. MESSIMER II, son of Kathleen Messimer of Roanoke and Harry Messimer of Salem, recently received a master of arts degree from Columbia International University in Columbia, S.C.
Messimer majored in teaching English as a second language and intercultural studies.
\ CELESTE T. DEREY, daughter of Clifford and Jessie Derey of Roanoke, recently graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C.
Derey, graduated in December with a bachelor of arts degree in English.
\ YVONNE M. BELANGER, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Belanger of Roanoke, recently received a bachelor of arts degree from St. John's College in Annapolis, Md.
\ SARAH LOVELACE DILLON of Roanoke recently graduated magna cum laude in education for the deaf and hard of hearing from Barton College in Wilson, N.C.
She also was on the dean's list.
\ MELISSA D. PAXTON and TIMOTHY P. HATFIELD, both of Roanoke, recently graduated from Milligan College in Tennessee.
Paxton, daughter of Henry and Helen Paxton, received a bachelor of science degree in business and psychology. A 1990 graduate of Cave Spring High School, Paxton was named to dean's list and also served as a representative and treasurer for the dorm council.
Hatfield, son of Paul and Judy Hatfield, earned a bachelor of arts degree in Bible studies. A 1990 graduate of Northside High School, Hatfield was a member of the soccer team and the madrigal singers.
