JAYCEES GIVE SERVICE AWARDS TO 3 ROANOKERS

The Roanoke Jaycees recently recognized three Roanoke Valley business leaders for their outstanding community service.

Glenn O. Thornhill Jr., president of Maid Bess Corporation in Salem, received the Distinguished Citizen Award. He has served as chairman of the board of directors of United Way of Roanoke Valley, president of the Art Museum of Western Virginia and past president of Roanoke Symphony Society.

Cynthia E. Dillon, president of Design Accessories and Design Marketing, received the Outstanding Young Woman Award. She has served on the boards of directors of the Virginia Museum of Transportation, Opera Roanoke and the Miss Virginia Pageant.

Barry A. Simmerman, the southwestern regional project supervisor for Central Fidelity Bank, received the Outstanding Young Man Award. He is the founder and past president of First Fridays at Five Inc., a member of the board of directors of the Art Council of the Blue Ridge and a tutor at the West End Center.
