AUDUBON TO GIVE WORK U.S. PREMIERE

The music of a Jewish musician will be performed in America for the first time since it was written in 1943.

The Audubon Quartet, Virginia Tech's internationally known string quartet, is donating its time and effort to the Judaic Studies program as a gesture to the Roanoke and New River Valley Jewish communities, said Virginia Tech professor David Barzilai.

On Sept. 9, the quartet will perform the music of Victor Ullman for the first time in the United States in the Temple Emmanuel in Roanoke and on Sept. 10 in the Squires Student Center at Virginia Tech, Barzilai said.

Ullman died in a German concentration camp in 1944.
