The loss gave the Southern Division first-half crown to Winston-Salem. Salem hasn't won a division title since the first half of 1988.
The Bucs were leading 3-2 when Trot Nixon hit a sacrifice fly to tie the score. Bill Selby then knocked a two-out single to left to seal the win.
Dario Tena went 3-for-4 to lead Salem at the plate. Jason Kendall had no hits but ended up with two RBI.
Scott Bakkum, making his first start for Lynchburg after arriving from Sarasota in the Florida State League, got the win. He pitched seven innings, gave up five hits and three runs, walked four and struck out eight.
Chad Amos got his second save of the year when he allowed three hits and struck out eight in two innings.
Losing pitcher John Ericks (4-2) gave up seven hits, four runs, walked three and struck out eight in five innings for Salem. Jason Abramavicius threw one-hit ball and struck out three in three innings.
The Bucs completed a sweep of Prince William Thursday night, beating the Cannons 2-0.
Salem scored both its runs in the eighth as it sent eight batters to the plate. After reaching on a single and advancing on a bunt by Chance Sanford, Dario Tena capitalized off an errant throw by first baseman Eddie Pearson to score. Later in the inning, Jon Farrell singled to left field to score Jeff Conger, a pinch runner for Kendall.
