ALLEN ANNOUNCES BOARD APPOINTMENTS

Gov. George Allen announced the Board of Visitors appointments for state colleges and universities Friday.

Ellen C. Nau and Gregory G. Goad were chosen for Radford University's board. Nau, of Richmond, is a former public school teacher and a member of the Radford University Alumni Association. Goad is the commonwealth's attorney for Carroll County.

Newly appointed board members for Virginia Tech include Richmond resident James E. Turner, the corporate executive vice-president of General Dynamics Corp. and a member of the Virginia Tech Foundation Board. Donald W. Huffman, of Roanoke, is an attorney with Bird, Kinder & Huffman, P.C., law firm. Robert B. DeLano of Richmond County has served as the president of Tech's Alumni Association and was president of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation. Mitchell O. Carr is the operator of Augusta Logging Exporters Inc. and lives in Staunton.

New members appointed to Virginia Military Institute's board are Samuel B. Witt III and Herlot Clarkson. Witt, of Winston-Salem, N.C., is the senior vice-president of Stateside Associates Inc. and is a member of the executive committee of the VMI Foundation. Clarkson, of Richmond, is a Board of Trustees member and a corporate consultant with ESSROC.
