Corrections

Incorrect information concerning the tax benefits for charitable gifts was included in a story on the June 13 Money page. Property given to a charitable organization is no longer a preference item affecting the giver's potential liability for the alternative minimum tax. The change in the law was effective with any gifts made in 1993 and subsequent years. Donors now can receive a tax deduction for the full amount of a long-term capital gain property.

\ Because of a production error, several lines of type were dropped from a story Friday on Habitat for Humanity. One paragraph should have read: Nearly 300 volunteers will hammer and saw to help Habitat's mission of providing decent, affordable housing for people in need. The Kellogg Avenue project will extend that street, creating a new 800 block ending in a cul-de-sac.

\ Rodger Price of Bassett was the fisherman who caught the 11-pound, 14-ounce brown trout from the Smith River. An incorrect first name was used in Thursday's Outdoor Column.
