BRIEFLY PUT . . . CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG?

HERE'S SOMETHING to get excited about. A Davis, Calif., entrepreneur says he can build flying cars - vehicles that will both drive and soar.

Paul Moller's "Skycar" is designed to carry four passengers up to 30,000 feet and up to 350 miles per hour. He says he's ready to produce six prototypes.

Anyone who remembers the "Jetsons" cartoons will appreciate the potential in this transportation mode: The sky has more room than the ground.

Indeed, the question seems to be not if but when. All that remains is to work out a few bugs (though Moller insists Skycars won't be announcing themselves with chitty chitty bang bangs).

There is also the little matter of funding. We aren't in a position to help out right now, but we hope Moller can attract the necessary investors.
