RU CONFERENCE STARTS MONDAY

The 17th annual Highland Summer Conference gets under way Monday on the Radford University campus. The two-week-long gathering - a lecture-seminar-workshop combination - is conducted by well-known guest writers. It offers participants a chance to study and practice writing skills within the context of Appalachian regional culture.

This year's conference focuses on adolescent literature, and four authors of books for children and youth will be this year's workshop leaders and will present public readings or performances:

Ruth White, Tuesday.

Sue Ellen Bridgers, Thursday.

Lou Kassem, June 28.

Nancy Ruth Patterson.

All performances or presentations will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Highland Room, Heth Hall.

For more information, call 831-5629 or 831-6150.
