MARCH FOR JESUS COMING UP NEXT WEEKEND

The GLOBAL MARCH FOR JESUS is set for June 25. Billed by its Austin, Texas, sponsors as "a day to change the world," the March for Jesus calls for Christians around the world to witness for Christ by walking, singing and praying together in their communities.

Nationwide, sponsors estimate that more than 1 million Christians will take part in more than 500 cities.

Billy Hale of gospel radio station WPUV (1580 AM) in Pulaski is organizing a March for Jesus in that community that he estimates could attract 1,000 marchers from several congregations in the New River Valley.

Participants will gather at 9 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of America (opposite Wal-Mart) on Memorial Drive to review march procedures. Around 10, the entourage will proceed down Memorial Drive to Bob White Boulevard Church of God, where there will be a prayer rally. Song books will be provided, and WPUV will broadcast the music to which the parade participants will sing and march. "The radio will be used as the music" via a public address system on the lead car, Hale explained. The march will last about 40 minutes, he said.

Call Hale for additional information at 980-7000.
