The Better Business Bureau has on record the case of a woman in Bedford who lost more than $12,000 after a caller told her that she had won a prize.

A resident of Raleigh Court in Roanoke lost $2,000 in her checking account and, because she had over draft protection, another $10,000 against her credit card after she too fell victim to a con man telling her she was a contest winner.
