PRESERVE PHOTO MEMORIES BEFORE THEY FADE AWAY

Remember me when I am gone away,

Gone far away into the silent land.

-"Remember"

Christina Georgina Rosetti,

1830-1894

One of the best ways to be remembered and share your life with family members in the present and the future is to organize and preserve your photographs. You can start today by collecting 15 or 20 photos and going to a class on photo preservation on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Christiansburg Senior Center, 655 Montgomery St.

Participants will learn about different types of photo albums, ways to display photos, and journaling techniques so you can write some captions and present information with the pictures. The instructor will help you with ideas for arranging the photos you bring.

Cost is $8 for Christiansburg residents and $13 for nonresidents. Call 382-2349 for more information.

You've still got time to write a line! Don't forget the POETRY CONTEST for seniors 60 and older. Poems must be original, unpublished and less than 60 lines. Three entries per person allowed. Deadline is July 29.

Send poems to Poetry, Office of Continuing Education, New River Community College, P.O. Box 1127, Dublin, VA 24084.
