NBC entered the Virginia marketplace last July with the acquisition of six supermarket bank offices inside Kroger stores in the Roanoke and New River valleys.
The branches previously were operated by Dominion Bank, which was acquired by First Union National Bank of Virginia.
James Beckner, senior vice president for NBC in Roanoke, said the bank hopes to reinforce its commitment to the Roanoke Valley by possibly adding an NBC Bank headquarters branch in the region.
"NBC is currently looking at several sites within Roanoke with the objective of establishing a main banking hub, which will also house the executive offices for our supermarket branches," he said.
He said the existing branches in the Roanoke and New River valleys have nearly $130 million in deposits, about $40 million in loans and more than 9,500 active accounts.
NBC Bank, operating unit of National Commerce Bankcorporation of Memphis, Tenn., also is opening in Kroger stores in North Carolina in addition to its long-standing operation with Kroger in Tennessee.
