INTERROGATION LIMITS EASED FOR POLICE

The Supreme Court made it easier Friday for police to press criminal suspects into making incriminating remarks before getting a lawyer's help.

The court ruled unanimously that officers do not have to stop questioning suspects who make what may be ambiguous requests for legal assistance. In a 5-4 vote, the court also said police are not required to seek clarifications of such statements.

The decision fleshes out the court's landmark Miranda ruling on suspects' rights.
