HANDGUNS STOLEN FROM BEDFORD STORE

Handguns were stolen from a Bedford sporting goods store Friday for the second time in three months.

Bedford Police Chief Milton Graham said city police received an alarm from Dave's Sports Shop, 205 N. Bridge St., at 4:17 a.m.

Officers responded a minute later and found the store's front door window and a glass display case smashed open.

Five handguns, worth $3,000, were stolen.

Police arrested two men April 22 in connection with a break-in at the store in which eight handguns were stolen.

Michael Anthony Haworth and Robert Junior Wright were charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny and were bound over to the July 5 grand jury.

Haworth is in Bedford County Jail, and Wright was released on bail.
