Cable rates to be cut

RADFORD - Customers of American Cable Entertainment, which serves the Radford-Fairlawn and Christiansburg areas, will see slightly smaller bills starting Aug. 1. The monthly rate for basic service - now $7.55 - will drop to $7.13. This means the monthly rate for all service packages will go down by 42 cents. The reduced rates are being implemented because of Federal Communications Commission regulations.

Bills for August will go out in mid-July, about two weeks earlier than usual.

News show added

BLACKSBURG - "Radioscope" is the newest addition to the program lineup on Virginia Tech's WUVT (90.7 FM). Hosts Maureen Scott, Patrick Barton and Hank Bishop will present a half hour of local, state and national news Sundays at 6 p.m.

WUVT also reminds listeners that the student-run station will continue to broadcast through the summer. Tune in for the "Wake-Up Blues Show" with John Peterson, Saturdays from 6-9 a.m.

"Biodegradio" features bluegrass, folk and acoustic music every Monday evening from 6 to 9.

"Caer Musicale" - the Celtic and folk music program - airs Saturday nights 6-9.
