SANFORD LEADS BUCS TO WIN

Chance Sanford belted a three-run homer run - his second in as many nights - to lead Salem to an 8-2 victory over Durham in Carolina League baseball Tuesday night.

Sanford also contributed a run-producing double as the Buccaneers snapped a three-game losing streak and won for the first time against the Bulls in their past four meetings.

After a 47-minute rain delay in the fifth inning, the Buccaneers chased Durham starter Blase Sparma with five runs in the sixth. Three runs came on Sanford's long homer over the right-center field wall, and Ramon Zapata and Jeff Conger drove in the other runs.

Jake Austin homered and had three hits for the Buccaneers.
