IN SCHOOL

ASHLEY BLAKE MATTHEWS and SARAH ENGLISH TUNE were named to the honor roll for the winter term at Washington and Lee University.

Matthews, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Matthews Jr. of Roanoke, was a sophomore; Tune, daughter of Nancy C. Tune of Roanoke, was a junior.

\ HUNTER FRANKLIN ARMSTRONG and ERIC ROBERT MINTZ have made the dean's list for the winter term at Washington and Lee University.

Armstrong, son of Dr. and Mrs. David L. Armstrong of Roanoke, was a freshman at the school and Mintz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan R. Mintz of Roanoke, was a junior.

\ CONSTANCE IRENE MECK and MATTHEW ROGER FOUTZ, both of Roanoke, recently graduated from the University of South Carolina, Columbia.

Meck received a master of education in adult and continuing education, and Foutz received a master of arts in conservation-archeology.

\ LARRY D. YATES, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde H. Yates of Salem, has earned a master's degree in business Administration from Shenandoah University in Winchester.

\ ANDREW ZURAW, son of John and Nancy Zuraw of Roanoke, has been named an All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy. He is a student at Roanoke Catholic School.

\ CINDY CREWS had been chosen as a Quest '94 assistant at Radford University.

Quest '94 is a summer orientation program for new and transfer students.

Crews, a graduate student and daughter of Robert E. Crews of 5244 Setter Drive, is majoring in elementary education, with an emphasis on learning disabilities.

\ THE WOODMEN OF THE WORLD LIFE INSURANCE SOCIETY LODGES 362 and 66 recently recognized several Roanoke Valley students who participated in the lodges' American History program.

Horace B. Thomas Jr. of Patrick Henry High School won the outstanding award. Other students receiving awards were: Mac Craft, Craig County High School; Elaine Ranguillo, Roanoke Catholic High School; Alice Arnold, William Fleming High School; Jasmine Jilla, Northside High School; Ernest V. Clark III, Roanoke Valley Christian School; and Gena Nasca, Cave Spring High School.

\ VIRGINIA WESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE has announced the names of its Roanoke-area graduates for the spring semester. Those from Blue Ridge are: Stephanie S. Cronise, Marion B. Meador, Craig R. Nicol, and Darrell M. Royal.

Jones is a sophomore at The Governor's School and Patrick Henry High School.
