NATIONAL BUSINESS COLLEGE has announced the names of Roanoke-area graduates. Those receiving bachelor of business administration degrees are: Wendelin D. Brooks, Robert William Cooper, and Wylie E. Walton of Roanoke, business administration-management majors; and Robert Estol Snider III of Salem, business administration-accounting.

Those receiving associate of arts degrees are: Jean H. Butler and Joan Elizabeth Stafford, professional secretarial-medical; Roben Denise King, Marty Minniear, Sheila Marie Patterson, Elizabeth Ann Reaves, Betty Ka Yee Shum, and Jason Scott Tanner, business administration-mangagement; Pamela C. Frost, Sandra Kaye Nichols, Alaina Ruble, Stephanie D. Coles, and Brian Scott Martin, business-administration-accounting; Douglas E. Dearmon and Kimberly A. Ralston, and David L. Smith, business administration-management; Cheryl A. Kay, professional secretarial-executive; Michael G. O'Connor and Renee L. Obenchain, business administration-accounting.

\ ROBERT E. GRECUS, of Roanoke, graduated from the State Police Academy. He will be assigned for duty in Prince William County.

\ FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY announced the names of its graduates. From Roanoke were: Tracy Leftwich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Leftwich, cum laude with a Bachelor of Social Work; and Stephanie McLaughlin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McLaughlin, with a B.S. degree.

\ BONNIE WHITLEY, math teacher at William Byrd High School, and her geometry classes were recently chosen to participate in the 1994 piloting of the New Standards Project tasks.

The project is a joint effort of the National Center on Education and the Economy and the Learning Research and Development Center at the University of Pittsburgh which is designed to develop standards and assessments in mathematics for grades 4, 8 and 10. Whitley was one of 40 teachers selected from a group of 150 recommended teachers.

\ JEREMY TODD O'BRIEN, son of Jim and Chris O'Brien of Roanoke, was recently initiated into the Clemson University Chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta National Academic Honor Society.

Society membership is awarded to students who have a B+ or better academic average.

\ SEAN E. LOUGH of Roanoke graduated cum laude from the University of Loyola in New Orleans.

Lough received a bachelor of arts.

The guild's scholarship fund assists high school and college students who plan a career in arts and crafts fields. Four scholarships are awarded each year.

Danner is a rising senior at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

\ JULIA SOBOLL-FRY of Roanoke recently earned a bachelor of arts from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore.
