Tucker is a sophomore at the university.
\ JENNIFER VERMILLION, a student at North Cross School, attended the Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation, a leadership training seminar sponsored by the Rokeva Woman's Club.
Vermillion is president of the sophomore class, active in varsity field hockey, basketball, cheerleading and softball. Last summer she participated in a Habitat for Humanity work camp in Cleveland.

\ LORA L. SCHWEHR, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Schwehr of Salem, recently won first prize in the Maryland/Washington, D.C./Virginia Mathematical Association of America student paper competition.
Schwehr's paper, "Delay Integral Equations and Population Dynamics," was the result of an independent study course at Roanoke College directed by Roland Minton.
Schwehr is a mathematics and physics major at the college.
\ ANDREA DANNER of Roanoke recently received a Virginia Mountain Craft Guild Scholarship.
\ EAST TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY has announced that three area students have been named to its dean's list for the spring semester.
They are: Lynette E. Henry and Phillip E. Justice, both of Roanoke; and Heather N. Croft of Daleville.
Students named to the list must earn at least a 3.7 grade-point average.
\ THE KIWANIS CLUB of Roanoke recently presented $1,000 scholarships to six area high school seniors.
Scholarship recipients from Patrick Henry are: Erica Suzann Campbell, daughter of Kimberly Brancati; Heather Michelle Cormany, daughter of Roger Cormany; Kristy Faye Ratcliffe, daughter of Philip and Carol Carp; and Yen T. Lieu.
Also, Anne Margaret Spencer from Cave Spring, daughter of Gregory and Margaret Spencer; and Liana Michele Hamm from William Fleming, daughter of Ramona Hamm.

\ JENNIFER QUINN, a 1994 Cave Spring High School graduate, was named to the Virginia All State Band. She was one of two students from the region to be awarded this honor.
\ JOHN ECHOLS and DOUGLAS F. TURNER received degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.
Echols received the master of divinity in Christian education degree; and Turner received the master of divinity degree.
