RAFFLE RAISES $13,000 FOR ARTS CENTER RENOVATIONS

Betsy Stephenson of Roanoke recently won a week-long trip to Paris in a raffle drawing, held to raise funds to continue the renovation of the Arts Place at Old First Church on North Jefferson Street.

The raffle raised $13,000 to renovate the church, which was the first baptist church in the town that became Roanoke. The church, now on the state and national registries of historic landmarks, willbe a cultural center for the visual and performing arts.
